It is used for a wide range of missions, including tactical airlift, search and rescue, aerial refueling, maritime patrol, and humanitarian aid.
In addition to military use, the C-130 has a civilian counterpart — the Lockheed L-100 — and its modernized version, the LM-100J, which is used by commercial cargo operators like Lynden Air Cargo.
