I remember reading complaints by some indie book authors years ago that they could not get their own page fixed on wikipedia when they found inaccurate or missing information on it. Got something like that they were "not a reliable source" as an answer when they asked why their fix had not been accepted.
Now the reason given is that since it's about yourself you should not touch it due to conflict of interest, but frankly, I don't get that if the fix would be something like just purely factual, not "this guy is the best author ever" but instead something like a missing book on a list of books written by the author, missing award, or a book not written by him on his list, wrong birth date, maybe wrong name for his wife etc... And as far as I recall the post that started the discussion wasn't even a case of the author going to his page and doing the edit himself but instead contacting some wiki editor and asking them to do the edit.
But yes, indies, and writing something that might be labeled "right wing" these days, meaning they had opinions and stories that were at least somewhat "right" from Karl Marx and had more traditional male heroes in their stories.

Very interesting. I just know that they are not very reliable.
I know you can change the info yourself.
