I think previously you weren't able to sell through CS because they cannot hold your money more Than a second, so they have to sell and write you a check immediately. So now you can sell GNE through CS no problem
That's what I've gathered.
I have a substantial cash account at Fidelity so they told me I own my shares.
They can't loan them out but I am not in GME. I day trade here and there.
"Fidelity so they told me I own my shares."
L...O...L...
Newsflash: they lie. They lie cheat and steal, and loan your shares out from under you even when pretending they don't. Its all bullshit, the stock market... you have IOUs... The shares are not in your name, they are in your "street name".
If true that sucks.
But even on computer share you still have to go to the brokers to sell your shares
it is true, just do a little googling and include superstonk gme and lending shares, people have proven it, proven the brokers lie, etc.
But no, you can sell directly through CS (you can buy, too). you just cannot have CS hold your money, they have to immediately cut you a check after a sale. So you don't need a standard broker at ALL when buying and selling GME through CS. Its just a little more clunky to buy and sell, than it is through a broker, but on CS you know 100% the shares are IN YOUR NAME, not an IOU from a shady broker who may or MAY NOT even own the share they tell you "you own"...
