This is AI related, and a very disturbing to me post. I bought a Chrome book that had mostly good reviews. It was on sale for $129. This thing is the worst thing I have ever had. It was loaded full of AI but I only got it to play frequencies for sleep. It was sort of ok at first, then it got worse until I was watching a video and it just shut down. I would click on something it would send me somewhere else. Even if it was the volume button it just sent me where it wanted, this site included. Today it shut down and would not turn back on. Then I found it shut off all my computers, and I could not turn any of them. It took me forever to get them come back on. There are videos on you tube that show how to remove AI from your computer. I am going there next, as these are making it wore every time. The AI uploads in secret, and ignores the no update for 5 weeks command. It is making my computer hard to use.

You actually said "since at least the mid 80s." I didn't get internet until 1993, and there was no internet provider at all in my half of NC until 1996, at which time I was one of the first customers. So it's a fact that none of this "tracking" you speak of was possible in the "mid 80s." Fact.
That comment you're citing hadn't anything to do with the Internet. The response was in regards to overall tracking.
Ever use a credit card? Or s phone? Or present id at the Drs office? It walk around properties that had CCTV?
I don't use a credit card or a smart phone. I use the landline phone using the same phone number that has been used by this house since the 1950s. I inherited the number with the house. The doctors' offices know who I am, so I never show ID. I just confirm my birthday on the wrist band. I also don't walk around properties with surveillance cameras, as I don't walk around. I live in the country. Our town is too cheap to buy all the cameras. There are 3 or 4 intersections with cameras, but I can drive anywhere I want without going near those intersections. I don't have a chip in my drivers license. I don't have GPS in my car. I have a very low profile. I pay cash everywhere possible.
The comment does have to do with the internet, as the tracking you complain of didn't exist before the internet.
