I am old enough to remember this. Everyone thought he was going to miss and be humiliated. Almost a public shaming event. But he was successful. I also remember Bush Jr. Throwing a baseball into the dirt. The catcher had to scramble to pick it up off the ground. Shaming ritual successful. News replayed the failure over and over for a week. FYI.
