I'm curious, too about the costs. Is it a one time purchase or a lease deal? How much data and is there tiers for different amounts of usage? What is the monthly rate? Thanks
They have a dirty demand based pricing structure. You'll have to check out what deals you can get for your specific location. It varies between really good and really bad.
It was easy to install. I used a former Dish network pole to install the dish.
I set dish part on the ground for the first few days until I could purchase some hardware to attach to the pole. Mounting the dish might be the hardest part for some but it isn’t technical. More of a carpenter type skill.
The Skylink app made everything easy. The app is pretty awesome. I use it all the time to check alignment, speed tests, etc.
I would say though that it is for do-it-yourselfers. No company to call and come out to fix things if you have issues.
$20.00 shipping. $0.00 hardware lease. $50.00 a month for 100Mbps Data.
I have been following Starlink for a while but never really considered it. It seemed kind of niche and out of my price range. But they dropped the pricing and it had a 30 day trial with refund if you don’t like it.
So far so good. We had a big storm the other day and a tornado came about four miles away from me. Starlink data dropped to 15Mbs and the Starlink app showed that the dish came out of alignment. When the storm subsided, everything went back to normal. Power went out for about 15 minutes and then when it came back on, Starlink rebooted fast and I was up and running. I never lost data as long as I had power.
Starlink has nothing really to do with your phone service as far as I know. I guess you can do some sort of internet calling but I know nothing about that.
I kept my phone and service. I use a cheap phone service Straight Talk. It is cheap, and customer service is lacking but it works for me. I wouldn’t be able to replace it with Starlink. Although I think Elon has future plans for that.
Starlink was already an interest that I have followed for a couple of years. So I jumped on this. If I don’t like it, I can just cancel and ship the hardware back.
How did I get a downvote on this post? Not that I care about fake internet points but I don’t have the option to downvote OPs. Who does?

Thanks. My conspiracy mind wandered. I rarely downvote anyone anyway. But your info is good to know.
every thread gets at least one downdoot. there is some salty b****rd out there who likes to spend his time downdooting
Well, it's good to have goals...or is it.
Good to know.
How much does it cost? Are there local dealers? Can a total non nerd install it?

Love it.
Thank you. I am very interested. We pay xfinity a lot for internet hook up.
Can you do away with your phone service and just use star link?
