Indeed the spirit of the antichrist and Mystery Babylon goes all the way back to Nimrod's tower. We also see that the only person John could possibly have been referring to in Revelation was King Solomon, with his annual 666 talents of gold. I see no better modern day equivalent to him than the popes of Rome. They have multiplied gold to themselves. Idolatry is rife in the Catholic church.
