I think Okeefe should go on vacation.

But only if he's going to enjoy it and not spend it worrying, thinking about this situation, being angry and resentful. If he's angry he should do a cabin in the woods thing with friends, bonfires, drinking, chopping wood, fishing, etc. Travelling would be dangerous
