I don't know why anyone would even want to move to a country where there is absolutely NO cultural similarities whatsoever. There isn't even any weather or geographical similarities between most Muslim nations and E. Asia. I could see Muslims wanting to go to Malaysia or Singapore, where there's already a Muslim population. But Japan?! Their language is hard enough to learn, let alone all the intricacies of Japanese culture.
I'm surprised Japan even took any in, to be quite honest. They prefer cultural homogeneity and typically don't like outsiders moving there for any reason other than work.
Correct, it took me three years to learn Katakana and I was learning Hiragana, but kanji was very very difficult and my sensei back then told me that will take me 20 years or more to learn it only if I live in Japan. Now I don’t remember Japanese, I learned it when I was 23 years old so I am 57 now. Never practice it and never went to Japan so I forgot it.
