The Technique (What It Actually Is):

This is a standard, long-used Japanese police method called “suzumaki” (簀巻き) or “human sushi roll.” Officers use a specially designed thick blanket or restraint sheet to envelop the person completely. It prevents kicking, punching, or head-butting while protecting both the suspect and officers from injury. It has been in regular use for decades, especially for drunk or disorderly individuals who might otherwise escalate a situation.
