None of it would have happened without the United States pouring a staggering $22 trillion into Europe over the decades, through Marshall Plan aid, military protection via NATO, defense spending that shielded Europe from threats, and countless other subsidies and supports that allowed European governments to redirect their budgets toward lavish social programs instead of their own defense or economic recovery. That's roughly 60% of the entire US national debt! America basically footed the bill for Europe's peace, security, and prosperity while Europeans got to enjoy the fruits without the full cost.
