If this is allowed to stand, and it might, many countries would have a strong interest to develop their own supplies or buy from other sources like Russia or the U.S. Other countries like Iraq, Pakistan and India, might then resell Iranian oil after getting their own premium deals, leading Iran to try to police their own punitive sanctions architecture, which would be ironic. The U.S. might not even be affected by the toll, as long as Iran guarantees not to attack America and Americans anymore. In a sense it would keep America out of the sanctions business and let the rest of the works pay the price, a price that America used to subsidize, while Iran can actually benefit from their own oil at higher market rates than before.

A lot of interesting possibilities, but let's see what Trump does. I think allowing the toll to stay is a possibility IF Trump is satisfied with the new regime, but overall I think it's unlikely.
