Why wouldn’t they defend him? He’s one of them. I’m not Catholic, but it still pains me to see what Francis, and now Leo are doing to the Catholic Church.
Maybe it wouldn’t hurt to have an independent and competing Catholic Church hierarchy that is conservative in its interpretation of God’s word and Church doctrine. Led by someone with conviction and courage like Archbishop Vigano appears to have.
Again, I’m not Catholic, I don’t know how the majority of Catholics feel about the current state of their church. My observation is it will be next to impossible to lead a conservative reformation from within the current Church hierarchy. The level of infiltration appears too broad and deep.
I have found the Catholic Church constantly changing reflection of scripture, to reflect cultural politics.

While SSPX priests are validly ordained, they are generally suspended, meaning their ministry is not legitimate" But they still have a chain of ordination, and sacraments are valid?
I have local Catholic Churches which are faithful. Many are not so lucky. The Pope is just the Bishop of Rome, unless he speaks in union with all the bishops. Just let us celebrate the sacraments, and leave global politics out of it!

The Seminaries are getting better. For a while a straight man could not get into a Seminary and become a priest at all, unless he kept his head down. YES they owned many of the Seminaries! to that extent!!
