Pedophiles can't help themselves. Kik has long been outed as a pedo hangout tool. Yet they continue to use it to target children who are young enough to not know about that.
Here's an idea for those of you and your friends that have children: if it's online, it's a tool that pedos can use to target your children so keep your children offline. Or, at the very least, actively monitor the site your children are using WHILE they are online. That means you sit there and watch WHILE they're playing video games and chatting with their friends. Watch the chat stream and listen to the audio so you can be ready to report any suspicious pedo behavior to the moderators as soon as it appears. It may not be ideal and will get annoying real fast, but it will also help the parents ensure that their kids don't stay plugged in for too long, too. The kids will complain about it, but that's their job as kids. To complain about their parents. It's your responsibility to ensure their safety at all times. They'll get over it.
It's what I've done with my daughter and she's never complained about it. She actually prefers it now. She knows that I will move Heaven and Earth to keep her safe, and we both sleep very good at night knowing she's the safest teenage girl in FL.
