I agree. It would have been far better with a staggered start on the audio video tracks such that it ends with the words synchronized. That's what made the now-classic "Danger to Our Democracy" composite video so effective.
These days, there's an algorithm that can change the speed of a video without changing the pitch of the audio track. They should've used it to slow down the videos where they talked faster, or to speed up the ones where they talked slower, ideally just c where they were talking at different speeds. They could've made every single word line up.
Clever idea you have there. It would be interesting to compare the two approaches towards audio alignment and test it to see which is the more effective presentation.
