He was found mentally incompetent to stand trial. This pissed off lots of people because, like the people commenting here, they don't actually know what it means to be mentally incompetent to stand trial. So, I'll explain, if someone is mentally incompetent to stand trial, they are held in a hospital for the criminally insane (a special prison with doctors) until they are able to stand trial or until they die. It actually makes perfect sense. If he were to stand trial, a leftist judge would probably set him free any way.
