If I remember correctly, there was talk that it was linked to the Tdap vaccine given to pregnant women. This occurred around the same time there was a Zika outbreak in Brazil. I believe it was somewhere around 2015. The vaccine was suspected to have caused the upsurge of microcephaly cases seen in children at birth. At the time I was hearing that it was not the virus, but possibly a bad batch of vaccines given to the women. Tdap was already known in some circles as being linked to neurological side effects when given to babies - worse yet if pushed on pregnant women.
Of course they would not want to blame vaccines so the excuse of it being caused by the virus was pushed so no one would be held to account. Blame a virus and then sell more vaccines. These people are evil. If I remember correctly, most of the affected children were born to poorer women. Who knows where the vaccines came from that were given through the clinics and health workers found in typically low income underserved areas. It would not be the first time I have heard of bad vaccines being offloaded to these cohorts rather than dispose of them. They are sold on the cheap. Poor women don't have much of a voice to be heard when things go wrong. This happens in Africa as well.
