The Hawaii Omnibus Act changed federal laws when Hawaii became a state. One section provides for the purchase of typewriters in the States of the Union.

Try to find 'States of the Union"

in Title 8 United States Code Immigration and Nationality
in Title 26 USC Internal Revenue.
