I am pretty sure temporarily waived sanctions on approximately 140 million barrels of Iranian oil already loaded on tankers, allowing sales to Asian markets, including China, to ease soaring global energy prices. This was not a permanent removal of sanctions but a 30-day waiver designed to lower prices.
BTW, sanctions were never intended to hurt Iran. it was intended to create a underground economy for China, Russia, Venezuela etc to transfer their criminal proceeds while staying out of sight of the global financial system, under direct management of the City of London.
You probably won't agree with me on this, but I think Trump is working with the civilian government of Iran and the strait is closed because Trump wants it closed for other reasons - probably to pressure Europe or China.
I don’t think the blockade is to seize and board every ship defying the blockade rules. The US can now pick and choose which ones they want to inspect. The doomers still get to call it a failure but it is winning. In fact, I would call it win/win.

This 30 day waiver is ending in 5 days. Timing not a coincidence.
