Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evolving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Rules For the rest of the Site also accessible on the sidebar.

With all the talk of technology. Robots and AI. While a future where Robots do everything and mankind is free from drudgery is unlikely. The integration of more technology and automation into our lives is nonetheless occurring. Slowly but steadily.
It would probably behoove humans to begin seriously pondering again. The world, our place in it, what the future may look like and how we find meaning. Lest we be caught completely flat footed by any technological developments. However unlikely they may sound.
It wasn’t that long ago chronologically LLM AI was considered an impossible Pipedream by many. Now it’s increasingly everywhere. Much to many’s annoyance.
Many said powered flight was an impossible feat that would take millennia. They said that right up until the Wright Brothers flew.
Some said cross country trips by Automobile would never be possible. Until it was. Now our great land is cross crossed by networks of roads and highways. And such a trip is very possible.
Who knows what other seeming impossibilities and advances that we assume will never happen may suddenly become possible?
I keep saying this to people. The LLMs (Also known as AI by most people) have completely changed the way you program software. I haven't written a line of code in 3 months and my productivity has gone up something like 50-100 times (no kidding). Yet, I am busier than ever.
Thats the paradox most people dont realise. The more efficient a technology is, and the more easily it eliminates drudgery, it does not reduce human work - it actually increases it - but moves it to a higher level. From implementation details to actual vision.
That's good to hear, thanks Bubble. With the Plan in full swing all of that productivity can be used to enrich us instead of enslave us further. What a time to be alive.
As God intended.
