(Disclaimer - I haven't watched the whole thing (~50 minutes) as yet, will update when I do).
PDJT was particularly interested in this as it relates to veterans, PTSD and suicides, expects it will help them (and others) in this regard. He didn't want to wait ten years to get changes implemented so called the right people to the table to discuss it and is pushing it forward via EO.
(Update at ~25 minutes in) -- it's pretty much a one-topic press conference so far, with PDJT giving about a twelve minute overview then having various individuals involved in this an opportunity to speak with PDJT adding comments as warrants. The main drug discussed is ibogaine and not only will it help with PTSD, but also seems to have proven to be super effective at quashing opiate addiction. So two main benefits for Americans struggling with major issues.
While POTUS has consistently exhibited love for ALL good people, Americans AND good people of foreign nations, I always have gotten the sense that there's a special place in his heart for our American warriors, current and veteran. There's a warmth, gratitude and love he exudes when speaking of helping out veterans, active duty and their families. I learned from this press conference that, for decades now, we lose more veterans to suicide than by war casualties (if I remember correctly he said 21 TIMES more!). I really hope this EO proves to be a huge success.
It's hard to believe you didn't know that fact as it's widely known and reported. Not throwing shade, I just though everyone knew that. Hell, movies are made about it.
I just watched this and these drugs will help battle mental illnesses. This is huge because we all know we have a major mental illness problem in this country. My idea is that we should get ahold of these drugs and head out to where the protestors are and start handing them out like candy!
LSD, mescaline, and psilocybin and I'm sure others are good for you. One of the many benefits are that they promote free thought and introspection. That's why they're illegal.
Ibogaine is very dangerous, even if it might be helpful. They have to check to make sure your heart can handle it. Maybe they will make an analogue that isn't as dangerous for the heart. It's an ordeal poison, as well as a psychedelic. Makes your heart race and pound like its coming out of your chest....for 2 days. Not fun. Imagine drinking 10 espressos every hour for 2 days. Many have died from it.
I think psilocybin mushrooms are much safer, but with anything you need a highly trained sitter and a protocol; and a safe space where you cannot hurt yourself or others.
They did mention in the press conference that ibogaine will not be available from a pharmacy, but administered at a hospital where the patient can be monitored. I have a feeling the new health organization will be exploring all kinds of potentially viable cures (including ones anons have advocated for), considering actual risks and making far better decisions for the health and healing of people in need than prior organizations (with perhaps ulterior and/or nefarious motives) had made.
I've just started looking into this drug, had never heard of it before this press conference. You sound like you're much more in tune with these issues (as are other anons here). For me, new ground/topic - always tons to learn here.
MDMA is very effective in treating PTSD and cannabis has very many health benefits. Magic mushrooms are also good for depression but not for severe psychosis, they will fuck anyone psychotic up bigtime.
LSD and other artificial hallucinogens are for the birds.
You can bet your wallet that the psychology profession will get their claws onto this, just to play their usual game of insinuating themselves and their language into the common psyche.
No one is talking about DMT? Your body already makes it. So it has a way to use it and get rid of it. Could be the safest drug because your body already has the pathways for dealing with it.

I was also encouraged by the success in ending addictions. (Other source). I look at it from the viewpoint of helping veterans.

It's amazing btw...
