you're accurately depicting how demons take over the human mind. they literally "flip the script" of the internal thought process in the mind. it's literally in scripture. once you give into the demonic lie, then come the mental reinforcements and repetition (think of the squiddies in the matrix attacking the hull of the ship). this is what being demonized is, held captive by thoughts. because it's a spiritual oppression, it takes a spiritual overthrow event to be brought to rational thought. except, once they love their sin, it becomes more difficult for the spiritual overthrow- but not impossible.
