I think part of deciding whether to give credence to this claim is to look at who is making it. Ronan Farrow is extremely credentialed and well-respected. I truly cannot see him repeating this statement without thorough vetting of the party giving it and knowing clearly that this person was who he or she said they were.

He would have spoken to him/her personally. I have no reason to doubt this is what the person said.
