Its not the "digital shit" per se. Note what .govs around the world are doing:

1. regulate payments and the value of money
2. set up gatekeepers by regulations: KYC, ATF, AML, and other acronyms.
3. Infuse the system with third parties: custodians and payment processors
4. Amend the tax code such that these assets needs to be reported.

.gov hates digital currencies like BTC, BCH, ZEC, because:

1. they do not control it
2. it is either private or anonymous.
3. it does not need any intermediary.
