You picked the source. Now you discount it. Make up your mind.
What's braindead is assuming everything is on the Internet. There are plenty of smaller orgs pulling the same crap that never make the news, and thus don't get cited on X. Those of us on the front lines are aware, but you don't think it matters because it's "anecdotal' and your favorite X account didn't repost it.
Just in case you don't know, the "private" in Private Equity many times means those entities are exempt from the reporting requirements for publicly-held corporations. This is where h1b-ification is at it's most pernicious and largely underreported.
