28 million Soviets died saving Europe and the world from Nazism. Every Soviet family lost a loved one. Every Soviet family sacrificed everything so that Europe could remain free today. Yet they never forgave Russia for winning… for setting them free.
They did help defeat the Nazis, but the Soviet Union then proceeded to oppress them themselves. They just traded one monster for another.

Not just a fair weather ally either, they dug in and did the worst of the worst in brutal ground combat warfare while we built factories & equipment, and played around in our boats and planes.
Funnily enough, the Allies never found a single one of the Nazi "gas stations". The Soviets "found" every single one, and then proceeded to build the Berlin Wall to keep the "liberated" cattle from escaping.

Russia is considered Eastern civilization, but their people have much in common with the peoples of Western civilizations.
