When this prize was offered, it told me that space was going to be opened to (select) private companies and individuals. It was about that time that Branson appeared on the scene as a candidate. I followed his 'progress' as a made man from there. His formation of a company named 'Virgin' and owning an island was possibly a double-sided brag/tell of sorts. One, the obvious pirate's historic penchance for island virgins. Put an eyepatch on some of 'these guys' and they might as well have a parrot on their shoulder standing next to their chest of booty. And yes MANY of them are indeed direct descendants of the old school pirates. They just become the New Gen 'privateer' as they learned to call it.
He was connected to Virgin Records who had an island base. Is he behind the music fest at Branson, Missouri? Was the town named for one of his ancestors?
Might be an interesting dig.
Some things really can be seen coming from a long way down the road once the 40k ft map is seen. Agendas become apparent and the devil is revealed in the future details. I've done this 'thing' my whole life. If one keeps the ugly inconvenient truth as your only dog in the fight, it will serve you well.
Reuben Branson opened a general store and established a post office there in 1882. The post office was named 'Branson' and that became the name the area was known for. The city of Branson was officially incorporated in 1912. Reuben's line of Bransons goes back into earlier American lines, while Richard's ancestors were English with some connections to India in the 18th and 19th centuries. Apparently public family trees show no direct connections between Reuben and Richard, though they could of course be connected further back.
Interestingly, Richard Branson DID claim to be related to Reuben in 2015 and joked about moving Virgin's US headquarters to Branson, though it was apparently an April Fool's day prank.
According to Grok, Branson Music Fest is sponsored entirely by local businesses.
Thank you much for you research. Interesting points. I did look into the fest but It's been awhile. Most American names have a foreign counterpart origin. I'm guessing that if Richard claimed he was related to Reuben, he probably is. "Connections to India" might serve the privateer notion as history. Thanks again, and carry on fren.
