Let's just say that hearing the Word of God depends on what you are listening for. Or how open your ears are. (It is all metaphor. We're not talking about anything audible.) Other people see a sunset and shrug.

Perhaps we can agree on the importance of being attentive to everything. I know that made a difference for me.
