I made a few black powder "bombs" back in my younger days. You were supposed to register for every can you bought but I knew a guy up the road that ran a small country store and he'd sell it to folks he knew for cash, no ID. I used it mostly for muzzle loaders. Then Pyrodex came out, it takes a hotter spark but it burns cleaner so black powder got scarce.
