The European Union’s population is more than three times larger than Russia’s population. The EU has a population of about 451 Million, compared to Russia which has 145 Million people.
Russia’s population is aging, with a median age of nearly 41 years. Their birth rates have been declining steadily for the past 12 years. Russia is having to deal with the costs of a high percentage of elderly population while their workforce is shrinking.
The European Union’s economy is more than seven times larger than Russia’s economy. The EU's GDP has an economic output of roughly $19 trillion. In comparison, Russia’s GDP is about $2.65 trillion.
I don't think giving any portion of Europe to Russia is going to work, nor is it our problem.
I think this is an A & B issue between Russia and the EU to resolve. The U.S. can C our way out of it.
The vast majority of people moving to Russia are labor migrants, refugees, and students from former Soviet republics like Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan.
15% of the Russian population is Muslim.
While a $4.50 cup of coffee in the US costs about 250 RUB in Russia, the PPP on everyday items indicates that a US consumer needs to spend $1.50 to make a purchase in Russia that costs an American only $1.00 at home.
Glad you got out, and hopefully your family does too, eventually.
That's great they have a thing that's good. Esoecially if they live in Moscow where the utilities are dependable. Sucks that in many other parts of the country the Soviet Era infrastructure .akes for spotty heating in the winter, sometimes. That would suck if it were expensive on top of that. The ~60% of citizens that receive some form of welfare definately benefit from cheap utilities.
Also, just fyi when someone tells you something about their experience, that is secondhand information.
OK, but each nation within that EU bubble has their own ambitions of supremacy - and that includes developing their 'own' weapons-system which is difficult to integrate with the others... so Von der Lying's ambitions of achieving a unified 'EU army' are doomed from inception.
Talking about the 'EU economy' is a figment of the imagination. Each country still has their own economy, and EU rules only complicate things. Yeah, they pay to be part of the EU, and yeah they sometimes get some of that payment back as a 'grant'. But I just see that as fiddling while Rome burns, TBH. And as an example, Greece got the skinny end of that lollipop, or look at how the EU interferes with Hungary, Romania, Slovakia polittics etc. (Democracy in action, really?)/
In terms of Russian birth-rates: it is a criticism to be levelled at any 'developed' nation. The only countries in the world that have positive birth-rates are African. So not fair pointing to Russia as having 'that problem' sounds a wee bit like propaganda - it's true, but it is just as true for any English-speaking nation, and China, and Japan, even India and anyone else, really (except for Africans).
All of this is irrelevant if they replace their white fighting men with muslims and africans who won’t fight for them. And the white christian men won’t fight for a regime that actively hates them.
Europe has absolutely nothing. If Russia invaded it would be a liberation of the West and an end to communism in Europe. Ironic.

That post inspired me to do some research.

"Talking about the 'EU economy' is a figment of the imagination".
Then, following this logic you could say that NATO is a figment of the imagination too. Which, problem solved!
