Three dead after exposure to mystery substance

According to New Mexico State Police, they arrived to find four people unresponsive inside the home, with three of them having since died.

Transmitted only through contact and not air born, and yet three first responders got sick?

I get strong smell of bullshit off this story. If it was narcotics as they suspect how exactly did the responders get sick. A meth cook gone wrong? I think it likely they already know what the 'mystery substance' is.
