The reason this isn't done on other social media sites isn't lack of capability, it's the lack of desire to do so.

I'm talking about age verification where you are forced to provide either your government ID or let some 3rd party scan your face to use a social media platform (which could even include this website under that law!) It would completely remove anonymity on the internet and its ironic that anyone on here would support something like that even under the guise of "for the kids!" But this is something that Ken Paxton absolutely supports which is ridiculous.

It's not government's business to protect kids. It's up to the parents to protect their kids and if they fail to stop their kids from accessing Internet, too bad so sad.

It is, and it almost certainly can't be automated.
Ultimately it is up to the parents to grooming-proof their kids, to ensure they recognize any sexually inappropriate talk and report it immediately.
