The Trump administration plans to admit up to 17,500 Afrikaners from South Africa as refugees during the fiscal year ending in September 2026, increasing the cap from an initial 7,500. This expansion includes an additional 10,000 refugee slots specifically for Afrikaners, citing an "emergency refugee situation" due to alleged racial persecution. The program has cost an estimated $100 million, which is only $13,300 per refugee for those first 7,500.
The cost is only about 25-cents per every person in the U.S. to give those extra 10,000 people a home here.
To qualify for Afrikaner refugee status under the U.S. program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Applicants must be citizens of South Africa.
Must identify as Afrikaner or be a member of a racial minority in South Africa (e.g., white, Indian, or mixed-race "Coloured" communities).
Must demonstrate a past experience of persecution or a well-founded fear of future persecution based on race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership in a particular social group—specifically due to government-sponsored discrimination.
Must currently reside within South Africa.
Must be at least 18 years old or be referred with a parent.
Applicants must complete the USRAP Intake Questionnaire and undergo screening by U.S. authorities, including background checks and interviews by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). While the program prioritizes Afrikaners, it is technically open to other racial minorities who meet the criteria.
I would gladly help a family of Afrikaners relocate to Houston Texas.
I could get people in my community together to make sure the refugees have a good job, place to live and can get established in the U.S..
Hopefully other people elsewhere are willing to help Afrikaner refugees relocate.
u/Purekiss is probably an eyewitness to this.
