I recently watched a short youtube clip in which Nick Irving, who says he was part of Tier 2, talked about Delta Force:

So seems it's not hyperbole.

That Black Hawk down movie showed a lot of the mentality of the elite forces and man, they are not fxxing around when they have a job to do.
