That is horrifying! Daniel Boone traveled from the KY wilderness to attend sessions of the VA legislature, very far away. HOW about Congress Critters getting NO PAY but representing their constituents on their own earnings?? That is how it used to be done, right?
I've always thought they should be paid the mean wage of their constituents and then after two terms return to the general public. Live by the laws they helped enact and go back to work like the rest of us. No life long bennies
exactly! It was never indented to be a full-time job much less a full-time career!
It was meant for citizens to SERVE on their own dime! Or a reasonable stipend to offset costs and hardship.
The Congress was NEVER intended to be a full-time job or full-time career to be lived upon by the benefits of service! That is not SERVICE it is . . . "payment" for "services rendered" . . . to WHOM!
I could really do with the prices of most things to go down some but, besides that, I do not miss nor do I want things to go back to the old "normal". It has been a very interesting, informative and eye opening last couple of years where people are not getting away with the same ol bs they used to.
Thank God for God! Sometimes he makes me laugh. Woke up this morning saying to myself what news stories will come out this week. It’s coming so fast and furious it’s hard to keep up! Then the first story I see is a YT by Braden Langley and Maines Dem politics; Graham Platner and his “sexting scandal”. What fun!
That was a good article, and I like how it helps to expose the dysfunction and corruption rampant in both the legislative and judicial branches of government.
These clowns will not fix any of the problems - they ARE the problems. Something stronger than those branches of government is needed to fix them. I wonder what that could be?
"Only days ago, the Speaker of the House declared that insider trading is essential because the reps and senators aren’t paid enough."
WUT?? The honor of serving is the reward! Hey you are supposed to support yourself, not be a full-time politician!
🎯🎯
He actually said that? I am sincerely shocked.
well according to the sauce of the OP . . .

They earned around $35,000 a year less than 50 years ago and were prohibited from playing the stock market. Attitudes have changed.
Yes, attitudes have changed, from people wanting to represent their citizens, at all costs, mostly out of their own pockets.

I grew up in Berkeley in the 60s, and it's adorable by comparison so what's happening today.

A wise Latina...don't think that means what she thinks it means. Maybe it's a second language problem.
That's a good read.
Congress isnt about to regulate or indict itself ladies and gentlemen
Well... Technically, Ginsburg did recuse herself. 😂
