Great idea! They should have been looking for everyday Americans with talent, instead of recruiting the "stars", who probably were asking way too much to perform anyway. An everyday American would be happy with even a quarter of the price they would pay the "stars" and be overjoyed to help celebrate America's 250 yrs. Why not pay an everyday American than a "star" that thinks everything revolves around just them.
My daughter wanted to be a singer when she was a teenager, she even took lessons, and the vocal coach was impressed with her, and he even had other parents sign their kids up with him after hearing my daughter sing. But something changed her mind and she realized it wasn't all that she'd thought it would be, I guess. I told her not to stop singing, because it brought her joy, doesn't mean you have to sing to for a living or for others, sing because it makes you happy.
