It could be these girls were told not to be concerned about them. "They're just immigrants looking for a better life..." they may have been asked to help one of them with something menial. Being the nice, polite girls they are, who were instructed not to fear them, maybe they lent a hand, and it put them in this horrific situation. Who knows? All I know is that if you stem from barbarism, you are going to take that with you wherever you go. This is a subculture of humanity, and most certainly evil.
Well said, and very "Christian" thinking that leads to this "acceptance of different cultures."
"Cultures" as a word seems impersonal from a distance. As in, let's go celebrate this culture at a food festival this weekend, etc.
But, the reality is people are raised in societies with behaviors that become acceptable 'normals.' Now, introducing different cultures living and working next door to each other becomes harrowing - especially for children and women. It is NEVER just different foods. It is CULTURE and PEOPLE.
