I think there's a lot of misconceptions about Hello Fresh based on the comments in this thread.
My wife orders one meal delivery per week. Nothing is "pre-made", there's no "marinaded meat", and there's no mystery about what you're cooking with.
When my wife makes one of these meals, usually at least an hour is spent in prep, a lot of that is chopping vegetables. Everything is organic: meat, vegetables & spices.
These are NOT meals for lazy people. They're a lot of work because NOTHING is premade, nothing is pre cooked or marinaded or pre-peeled or "pre" anything. It's not unusual for it to take 90-120 minutes to make one of these meals from prep to finished cook.
ALL of the meals are healthy and very well balanced. Every single meal has a very large vegetable portion without exception.
Why have we used their service? Because most of the meals are REALLY good, they're ALL healthy, and I get exposed to new ideas to incorporate into my own cooking. The service keeps me from falling into a rut with my own cooking and recipes.
Now, their shot at our President and their bizarre pride month posts are probably enough to get me to cancel the service, but in reading the comments in this thread, it's basically just one long string of misinformation.
Hello Fresh is not for those that want quick meals. It's for people that want healthy, organic meals, and I would argue that it's a great way to learn how to cook given that while they walk you through the steps, you still have to learn technique and mastering your own cooking equipment.
So you are basically going to one of those "cook it yourself" restaurants where you pay exorbitant prices for raw food that you then cook at your table
No, I read it, I just think its absolutely fucking retarded to use a service like this. Go buy your own ingredients yourself (literally the same ones...) and its cheaper
It's like going to a restaurant then ordering uncooked food. You are paying extra for ??? Ambiance?
I concur. It seems this company that provides instructions and ingredients is being confused with pre-made meal delivery services. It is not the same thing. Hello Fresh is closer to online cooking classes. The difference Hello Fresh provides the food in it's pre-prepped form. Cooking class you shop and provide the food in its pre-prepped form. Either way it's a whole raw eggplant and some chicken breasts.
The issue isn't laziness, or menu.
The issue is that they are disgusting, and I hesitate to put something from this source in my mouth. Nobody is challenging THAT premise. A great deal of time, thought, and effort is put into making the meals one eats appetizing. This is the opposite, and while I don't really understand the post, I understand my nose wrinkles up thinking about them, and ANY meal from McD's to mine is better than that.
It is, which is why I commented that this information will most likely result in me cancelling my membership.
However, when I see post after post of misinformation on any subject around here, I'm going to say something. This is a Q board, we're supposed to be committed to truth and accuracy. And there's FAR too much unsubstantiated material that gets posted around here, political or otherwise.
puts flame suit on

Doesn't seem like you read my post very carefully.
