There is no freshwater resource deeper than the Ogallala for farmers in the High Plains region.

California’s Central Valley has deeper aquifers. Some of the coastal regions of Texas have deeper aquifers. The Ogallala is the deepest available freshwater source in the Great Plains. Once its depleted, there are no deeper reserves to drill into.
