What they’ll end up finding is evidence of disregard for safety and environmental standards, underfunded Maintenance Budgets, meaning proper maintenance was never done, along with cooked records/reports, numerous ignored employee complaints, and other assorted graft and corruption.
It’s kinda a rule of thumb for Industrial Companies. They’ll pull shenanigans to save money the moment they believe they can get away with it and no one is looking. Regardless of the potential consequences. The only real difference between companies is to what degree they’ll do it and where they cut and what records they cook.
As long as it doesn’t affect the owners or people rich enough to cause the owners problems. They generally don’t care. And our legal system is such that the company can cut a check and make tangible consequences go away. On the off chance they are called out.
Yes absolutely. When I lived in IL, I would often smell some horrible air pollution that smelled like rotten dog food. One day on my way to work, I had to take a detour and I learned first hand where the smell was coming from. It was a corn starch plant and they weren’t using their exhaust scrubbers to save money. After I did a little research I realized that they were donating to all the politicians and even built a high school in the town to build public sentiment in their favor. All the while people were living with the rotten dog food smelling air for miles and miles and miles. I moved to FL so no longer have to deal with IL bullshit but the politics are just as crazy here but totally different.
