Kumelo's family blew all that money on stuff instead of investing in his defense? They used a public defender (free for them but we paid for it), and he blew it mainly because his client was guilty in the first place. Why don't the haters go after the public defender or the stupid family? Because they have misplaced anger due to generations of propaganda and straight up brainwashing by the deepstaters who pretend to care about them.
The trial attorney was private. BUT, the appeal is with a public defender.
"Karmelo Anthony was represented by Mike Howard, a private criminal defense attorney, during his murder trial. Howard, who previously worked as a public defender but left to open a private practice, was retained by Anthony’s family using funds from a $600,000 online fundraiser. Howard’s defense team argued that Anthony acted in self-defense during the fatal stabbing of Austin Metcalf at a Frisco track meet, but a Collin County jury rejected this claim.
Following Anthony’s conviction and 35-year prison sentence, he filed an appeal claiming he was "penniless" and could not afford further legal representation. The court granted his request for a court-appointed attorney, assigning Donny Perales of Chesley & Perales to represent him during the appeal process. Anthony has been transferred to the Wallace Pack Unit in Texas to begin serving his sentence."
