Multiple floors and corridors inside the Pentagon have been locked down, with some areas evacuated, following what officials are calling a “hazardous materials incident.”
Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell confirmed that building systems detected an air quality issue, triggering precautionary measures and a shelter-in-place order for affected areas.
According to reports:
Floors 2-5 in several Pentagon corridors have been locked down
Hazardous materials response teams are on scene
Arlington County Fire Department is assisting the response
Witnesses report officers wearing gas masks and full chemical protective gear
