Probably used for the GAT, Guidance Apportionment and Targeting. I did that for a while. Imagine an extremely complex schedule with aircraft, weapons, tankers, targets, surveillance assets, etc. coming from land, sea, remote islands and other countries. With multiple constraints like: deck cycles, crew/aircraft availability, tanker fuel potential offloads, radio frequencies to be used, etc. And the strikes need to be deconflicted. Add the backup contingencies. No mistakes.
