The movie is about a foreigner (an American) who owns thousands of properties in Europe. He acts entitled because of it. He doesn't like that there are older people in their 50s and 60s working for his company so he tells a manager to get rid of them and bring in new blood. He is in his 40s but he's not married and he doesn't have children. He has sex with prostitutes. And he kills European citizens.
He killed law enforcement officers for doing their jobs. He killed innocent people in a car (men? women? children?)simply because they didn't change lanes.
There were some cool moments and some good points made but it was really badly done.
Not to mention the gaping holes in the plot. He asks a woman in the hospital if she wants justice and she says "Yes" and that's the end of it. The movie never shows the vigilante going after her assailant. Then there are three teenagers in a park assaulting an innocent guy. Two guys and a girl. The vigilante breaks the two guy's bones but the girl magically disappears.
I understand the point it was trying to make and I agree with that point, but it was so terribly executed.
I don’t think this movie was made for Americans. I get and understand all the negative comments and reviews everyone is posting here. However, I think this hits all the raw emotions people in Europe are feeling. They probably feel that the police and judges are to blame as much as the foreign invaders are. I believe we would feel the same way if the same were happening here. The people who they look to to defend them, their laws, and their way of life are enabling the criminals. A lot of it was over the top but the message was clear to the audience it was meant for.
I think you're right. Since I have made this comment I have seen more and more posts about European police siding with the invaders over the citizens.
I was more concerned about how Americans perceive ICE officers but then cheer while officers in another country are killed because they showed up for work that day.
But now I see the divide.
I didn't like the movie but I agree with the underlying premise. The scene with him gunning down the ungrateful invading family - I want to see more of that and less of him getting a blowjob from a prostitute and him telling his peon to get rid of his employees because they're too old.
