RABIES VACCINATION REQUIRED: Pursuant to G.S. 130A-185, every owner of a domestic dog, cat or ferret in North Carolina is required to have their animal currently vaccinated against rabies by four months of age and maintain the animal’s current rabies vaccination status throughout the animal’s entire lifetime. The owner should retain the original copy of the rabies vaccination certificate, provided by the legally authorized vaccinator as evidence of the animal’s current vaccination status. There are no legal waivers or exemptions, rabies vaccinations are required by law for domestic dogs, cats and ferrets in North Carolina.

I think that starting 1/1/2027, the authorities can come into your home if you have unvaccinated pets. We have a cat that is almost 19 years old. She is only in the house and on the screened-in porch. She wouldn't go out if the door was wide open. She has not been vaccinated in probably 10 years. I've never had a pet live this long. I will never adopt another pet, if torture is required. I don't trust vets.

Last year my dog had to see the vet. We stopped vaccinating him like 6 years ago and hes older now. I did the research before we took him in and in the State of Florida they showed the last 6 months data was available and it was like a year and a half old. For 6 months for the entire State there was only 15 cases of rabies! This was for all animals combined. Dog, Cats, Cows, Pigs Squirrels, Raccoons etc you get the idea. Raccoons were the majority of rabies cases.

They had it broke down into columns. Guess how many dogs and cats were in that 15? You guessed it ZERO! Now you cant tell me more than about 50% of the population takes there animals to vets unless something major is wrong. So the argument that there doing such a bang up job with vaccinations doesnt fly.

I pretty much had a 30 minute discussion with our vet about it and she wouldnt budge and at the end she said if she didnt do it for him it wouldnt be fair to all to all the other animals and that its her job. The whole vaccination program for animals is total Bull Shit just like for humans. We have had adverse reactions with pets and jabs over the years and it isnt worth it to me to take the chance. If vaccines were really worth a shit you would get it once and that would be the end of it because you body has then built up the resistance to whatever the jab was for.

That damned rabies vaccine killed my little Gypsy. Fortunately, Josephine, Jasmine and Rico aren't going to get it. We spoil the shit out of them anyway, but regardless, they're nowhere going near any type of shot again.

If you do not license your dog you do not have to comply w rabies req. You can fly under the radar. And while it is true that it's better for a dog to be neutered when mature, vets want proof of rabies vaxx. So if you neuter younger, before the age for rabies vaxx, you can get it done without proof of rabies vaxx. Hoping for the pet vaccinations issue to blow up as people learn not to weaken their pet's health by poisoning them with shots.

Yes, this is something I definitely agree with. It also reminded me that it’s been nearly two years since I last took my dog to the vet for his rabies vaccination. I believe he was actually due for it sometime last year.

He’s not neutered, his teeth are in great shape, and he absolutely loves the outdoors. Ever since he was a puppy, I’ve kept him on a long leash so he has plenty of room to explore. My little guy just loves to wander.

So far, I’ve been doing great job in keeping my dog, natural healthy.

It would be nice if there were something as simple as sugar water that could be used in place of a rabies vaccine. That way, if he ever happened to bite someone, his vaccination would still be on record.

Amen, and lets not forget they are giving pets treatments that will also reach their owners. Mrna shedding from pets has been a thing.

So any and all mandatory rabies vaccination programs are colorable law, in that they have been passed and mandated upon the pet owning public by certain vested interest groups. Who are these groups? First and foremost are veterinarians, in general, and veterinarian medical organizations. Second are the local animal control personnel, bureaucrats and politicians. What are their reasons? GREED, POWER AND CONTROL. Both these large powerful interest groups stand to benefit greatly by having rabies mandated by colorable law.

NEVER VACCINATE ANYTHING!

In my county, only dogs are required to get the rabies vaccine, and fortunately I am a cat person. In nearly 40 years of marriage, my wife and I have had a couple dozen cats, mostly rescues that would have otherwise died or been killed. We have never had a single cat vaccinated with anything, and we have never once had any of them get sick or die from any of the diseases that vets routinely vaccinate them against. The average age they have lived to is 18-20 years. The oldest were 21, the youngest died at 14 (untreatable bone cancer in her jawbone).

NEVER vaccinate your pets.

I had to put my dog down myself because the local vet wouldn't do it unless she was fully vaccinated. They wanted me to spend $200 on vaccinations, just so they would put her out of her misery. She lived her entire life in the house or our fenced in yard. She was 19 when I sent over the rainbow.

If your dog bites someone - you'll be held accountable and potentially lose your homeowners - not to mention your home if they sue.

Mexico is great , i have several vets, 2 drs just fill out the card for tge price of the vaxx, others will fill out the vaxx card and hand me all the shots - im supposed to do the shots myself . They are covered this way . Thsnkfully many people in cali use mexico vets ( tgeyre better ) so the vax cards sre accepted here . I will never vax my dogs havent in yesrs
