Japanese World Cup Fan Reacts to American Hospitality: 'We Had Not Yet Ordered Anything, And the Food was Already Arriving'
A Japanese World Cup fan visiting the United States struck a chord with Americans by appreciating something many citizens likely take for granted -- complimentary baskets of chips and salsa served at Mexican restaurants in the U.S.
We do take a lot for granted, don't we.
Unfortunately, some Mexican restaurants now charge for chips and salsa.
Not here where I live. (yet) In fact here, we not only get the chips and salsa but the white sauce, too. All Mexican run, btw.
And hopefully not! It is part of the gemuetlichkeit of Mexican restaurants! ; )
ThanQ. I had to Duck Duck Go that word, lol. Nice!
THANKS! Danke! : )
It is the perfect word for a warmth of hospitality that no English word captures! But I like it better with the umlaut, but if I try to put an umlaut in a response, I get kicked out by the software.
I won't search for that one then. Donkey Shins! ;)
HA! Were you stationed in Germany?
Knowing you served, I have very literal, descriptive writing of my great-Uncle who was captured at the Battle of the Bulge and suffered in a Nazi POW camp.
When these online liberal creeps call Conservatives "Nazis" it makes my blood boil. They are so clueles. They are luckier than they know. And more stupid than I ever dreamed possible.
Oh no, my husband served during the Vietnam Era, but in the US near the end of the war. But I have a LOT of friends and relatives who served in Germany. That's where I heard they joke about "donkey shins." :)
some in my area include bean dip with that also.
I live in Canada. We're a very wealthy (were, correction) nation, comparable to the US.
Then I crossed the border a few times.
We're a very poor country, not comparable to the US.
