This statement from the article was a very convoluted way to say just that, but make it sound benign:
It. . . was also documented in groups with strict hierarchies in which it could build alliances and avoid aggression within the group.
The common sense interpretation of that statement is the dominant males and females sexually forced themselves on same sex group members as a way to enforce the pecking order. So, it really isn’t about sex, it’s about dominance.
Absolutely— anyone who’s spent time around herd/pack animals knows this to be true (only human deviants throw in the sexual take) -animals doing animal stuff without human perversity attached
We had a gay cocker spaniel growing up- didnt matter how many times you pointed him towards the female, he found every boy neighbor dog to mount EXCEPT the female in raging heat...
We wasn't stressed, he was spoiled and pampered AF
Nope- we were trying to breed him with our female-- gay as gay can be.
After several attempts (2-3 heats) we gave up and got him neutered. He still occasionally humped boy dogs.
I have seen dogs "hump" even on the owner's leg . . .
My daughter let her champion rabbit into the bedroom. He hid under the bed, which was too low to reach in for him. We tried broomsticks etc. for 45 minutes, which he evaded. I told my daughter, go out to the rabbit hutches and bring in a female. He was out in seconds!!
When they say animals can be gay, I often point out that it's usually not consensual ;) Boy, do they hate that lol
OH MY!! That is perfect!
Spot on!

Was he "fixed"? just asking!!

Beyond "humping" I will not ask!!

Did you ever de-worm him?
He never had any issues with worms- we still did the annual deworm tho
