Went to doctor. Had blood work done. Showed that I had high blood sugar. Doctor did an in-house A1C test and result was 14, which is off the charts.
I bought a tester where you prick finger and apply blood to test strip, and get a read out. My levels are alarming, and have me worried.
Results are: 256 | 241 | 221 | 261 | 384 | 264 | 394 (Damn it man seem like I'd be dead at these levels)
I did not dream that I might be diabetic so I know nothing about how to deal with this. I do understand that my levels are dangerously high, but I don't even know what that means.
Anyone have these kind of issue. What are you doing to deal with it.
P.S. I suspect this has been going on for a while and I just did not recognize symptoms, until I finally realized I was losing a lot of weight. I was 6'3 221 prior Dr. visit, now last visit I'm 194 lbs. Always been healthy.
Understand, and thanks.
Weight loss may not be a negative thing: I was never a fat person. And when most of you weight loss is coming from muscle mass, it is a bit more concerning to me.
Sounds like you might need to find another doctor, one more interested in you health than phama profits.
Doctor indicated that high blood sugar can lead to muscle loss.
Search says:
Yes, high glucose levels can lead to muscle loss. Chronic high blood sugar can damage blood vessels and nerves, which may limit the nutrients and oxygen reaching the muscles, contributing to muscle weakness and reduced mass.
When at doctor, he did not mention any of those other things.
