The Plymouth Colony performed much better over time, if measured by internal metrics as opposed to exportable commercial production. While Jamestown was settled first, Plymouth has a better claim as the birthplace of America as a political entity. It'll always be subjective, but that's how I see it.
Snide remarks about Brits aside, Here's a Birthday gift: one cannot deny the colonization of the English Language into the New World. And how that Virginia (after the Virgin Queen) project was one of well-planned and invested colonization, and even fortune hunting.
There's all sorts here, including (not in chronological order sorry)
+the name of the person found in a ceremonial (with sword) grave
+a halberd
+the name of the carpenter who built OG Jamestown
The first ? settler child's shoe
some Phil impressive Virginia folk-singing in the band of banjos.
+the name of the pipe-maker who was sourcing clay (pick it up in the colonies and make pipes) in the New World for a booming pipe-market back in Europe.
+bonus ===>Tobacco cultivation saved the colony (if not the USA), with the name of the person who achieved it
(oh and tobacco seeds were gifts from Indians in the area - just a thought)

I believe the facts are on your side. Historian David Barton agrees as well.
