On July 7, 2026, three commercial vessels were attacked by Iran while transiting the Strait of Hormuz. One tanker caught fire after being hit off the coast of Oman, while two others sustained damage but remained operational.
The targeted ships included the Qatari-owned LNG carrier Al Rekayat, which suffered a fire in its engine room, but that all crew members were safe.
I will point out that this was a VERY weak and stupid provocation on the part of Iran. You slightly damaged 3 vessels... and then got the absolute snot beat out of yourself for the effort. It would be the rough equivalent of walking up to Mike Tyson and lightly slapping him across the face.
If Iran had serious intent of harming the three ships, then how hard would it be to sink three ships that are sailing within 10 miles of your coastline? How hard would it be to fly a drone into the bridge and take out the entire command and control of the ship? Instead... Iran did three little "poof" attacks that didn't injure anyone and did no lasting damage. The U.S. then unleashed hell on Iran in retaliation.
Hopefully the Iranians got the memo. Don't do that again.
The U.S. on Wednesday launched another wave of strikes on Iran in the wake of the ceasefire's collapse, marking the second night of American bombardment after months of a nominal ceasefire.
"At the direction of the Commander in Chief, U.S. Central Command forces have started conducting additional strikes against Iran to further degrade their ability to threaten freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz," U.S. Central Command said in a statement.
"The United States is holding Iran accountable for recent unjustified aggression against commercial shipping and civilian crews freely navigating a vital international waterway," it continued.
The strikes followed a breakdown in negotiations between the U.S. and Iran, which coincided with intermittent flare ups in the conflict across all fronts.
President Donald Trump on Wednesday confirmed that he considered the creasefire that the U.S. and Iran signed to be over.
Apparently there is nothing left to FO among the surviving Iranian FA idiots, so I guess it's time to use the "kill 'em all" doctrine and see if a new bunch of more reasonable leaders arise.
